A NEW political party has formed in York today which aims to ‘bring York back up to a standard befitting England's second city’.

In a post made in the ‘Restore the Condition of York's Parks and Bar Walls’ Facebook group, leader Keith Hughes announced the formation of a new hyperlocal political party – the York Residency Party – intended to represent the views of local people.

In his post, Keith said: “We have seen York decline from the jewel of the north to its current state. As a party it is our aim to bring competency and transparency back to our politics and bring York back up to a standard befitting England's second city.

“We are a local base party, who will fight tooth and nail for the city, and since we are comprised of local people, we understand the high standards the people of York expect and deserve.

“We have no affiliations with any entity outside of York and therefore have no need to bend the knee and surrender the cities best interests on behalf of party politics.”

He pledged full transparency for the people of York, sharing that all ‘triumphs, mistakes and intentions will all be laid bare to the public’, a focus on what the people of York care about, and regular consultation with ‘party area managers’.

Whilst the number of people involved is yet to be revealed, the leader of the party is Lewis Tyldesley and Shane Sayner will be in the deputy role.

The Press reached out to the party for comment but are yet to receive a response.
