Youths threw bricks and large stones at police officers in a North Yorkshire town.
They “deliberately” targeted the officers in Eastfield, near Scarborough, at 1am on Sunday (September 15) “in a clear attempt to seriously injure” them, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
They said the "missiles" were thrown at the officers from behind a fence on the building site opposite when they arrived in Maximus Road following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
“As we retreated to a safe distance, the youths continued with their behaviour, causing damage to a vehicle parked on Roma Drive,” the police spokesperson added.
Officers are seeking the public’s help to catch those involved.
“One of the suspects has been identified as white boy, aged between 14 and 16, and wearing a white top, black shoes, black trousers and a grey jacket,” the force spokesperson explained.
“The second suspect is white, aged 14 to 16, and he was wearing Nike skinny grey trousers.
“We are requesting assistance to try and identify the two offenders.”
