Yorkshire is home to the fifth-highest percentage of Lotto millionaires in the UK, according to a new study.

The research, conducted by betting guide company OLBG, analysed National Lottery data to identify the UK's luckiest lottery locations.

The study found that 9.3 per cent of all Lotto millionaires in the UK are from Yorkshire, placing the region joint fifth in the UK.

Richard Moffat, CEO at OLBG, said: "This November the National Lottery will celebrate its 30th birthday.

"Lives up and down the country have been changed drastically during that period thanks to the lottery - not only benefiting player pockets, but transforming funding across good causes in the arts, sports, and other heritage causes as well."

Other factors considered by the study included the number of £50,000+ winners per region, and the most commonly drawn numbers and pairs per lottery type.
