The event is being coordinated by York BID Business Manager, Chris Bush.
Chris said: “With the ever-increasing prices of food and drink, we’re delighted to be able to offer so many affordable ways to dine out while supporting York’s hospitality industry. There’s a huge variety of deals available, and it’s a great way to spend quality time with friends and family.”
Among the restaurants, Ambiente will be offering 3 tapas for £15 from its York Restaurant Week menu. This will be available all week excluding Friday evening from 5pm and all day Saturday, with variations at each of the three Ambiente restaurants.
Sophie Thorpe of Ambiente said: “York Restaurant Week is always such a great opportunity to showcase the diverse and vibrant food scene we have here in the city.
“We’ve been involved since York Bid first launched the initiative and it’s always one of our favourite weeks of the year. It's a great opportunity for us to catch up with regulars, but also introduce new customers to what we do.
“Sophie added: “York Restaurant Week really brings the city together and highlights why York is such an exciting destination for food lovers.”
Dominic M’Benga of the recently-opened Hooting Owl distillery in Rougier Street: “I do not know whether we qualify as a restaurant.
“But what we do offer are great sourdough pizza, 12-inches at £5, yes £5 for a 12-inch quality pizza, wonderful sharing platters, freshly made salads, bruschetta and nachos.
“And though it is for restaurant week, our pizza offer will continue.
“The idea is let’s get people back out, enjoying quality food, excellent service in a quality establishment without breaking the bank.”
Adam Johnson of Polymath in Grape Lane has a range of £5, £10, £20 and £30 deals.
He said: “We wanted to showcase the good food for socialising. We market ourselves as a local bar with something every night.”
A range of offer vouchers can be bought online at www.yorkrestaurantweek.co.uk from Monday September 30. There is no limit to the amount of offers diners can access, and vouchers are completely free to download.
Diners are advised to book ahead and check any terms that may apply to certain offers.
