Harrogate BID reports its Town Centre Support Officer (TCSO) is supporting, safeguarding and improving the town.

The role was introduced by the Business Improvement District (BID) earlier this year to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, working alongside partners and supporting projects as the team work towards achieving their objective and overall Business Plan set out for their second term in the North Yorkshire town.

Since starting in May, Kiam Taylor has made a difference, helping to retrieve hundreds of pounds worth of stolen goods, increasing reporting of crime in Harrogate and supporting partners to work in collaboration against potential criminals. He recently deterred a thief and recovered £600 of stolen jackets and returned them to a store.

Matthew Chapman, Harrogate BID Manager, said: “It’s been a fantastic start for Kiam as part of the BID Team – and it’s results like this that show he’s making a positive change to make our town safe and welcoming for all.”

“He’s been a great asset to the BID so far and has built some highly useful relationships and connections with our partners as well as acting as an ambassadorial presence on the street reporting and engaging on a daily basis.”

“He’s passionate about supporting the work we do to improve our town centre for businesses, visitors and residents.”

Harrogate Bid says Kiam will continue to act as the eyes and ears on the ground in Harrogate, monitoring hot spots and gathering evidence to work with partners including North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Council, CCTV Operatives, Harrogate Homeless Project and more to enhance the BID area.

Any crimes in the Harrogate area can be reported either on the Police.UK app or by calling the force on 101 or 999.
