Two men were arrested after police swooped on a van driving through North Yorkshire and found a stolen electric bicycle inside.
Officers said they were patrolling the A64 near Malton on Sunday (September 15) when they saw a "suspicious" silver Peugeot Expert speed off towards Old Malton at about 4pm.
Shortly after, North Yorkshire Police said, two men jumped from the van as it was still moving, then ran off on foot.
The van, meanwhile, crashed into a barrier.
Officers and a police dog searched the area and found the two men nearby.
The pair, aged 36 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, theft, vehicle interference and burglary.
In addition to those offences, the 36-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug and the 31-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, and driving without a licence or insurance.
Police said they have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
“Inside the van, police found a suspected stolen e-bike, worth more than £2,500,” added a force spokesperson. “They were later able to trace its rightful owner, from the Yorkshire coast area, and arrange its return.”
