The York Gin shop has been shortlisted for a major Yorkshire-wide retail award.
The shop in the iconic 16th century Sir Thomas Herbert’s House on Pavement is in line for the Independent Retailer of the Year at the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards.
The shortlist also includes Cannon Hall Farm Shop, Drewton’s, Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop, Minskip Farm Shop and Weetons Food Hall. Several of these finalists also stock York Gin!
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, the Taste Awards, run by Deliciously Yorkshire, the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and the Humber, have grown to be the largest and most respected awards of their type in the North of England.

A team of industry experts including chefs, supermarket buyers, writers and consultants descended on the Pavilions of Harrogate earlier this month to work their way through a record number of entries from the region’s finest food and drink businesses, in a bid to whittle down hundreds of entries into this year’s list of finalists.
York Gin’s Head of Retail Jenny O’Hara said: “We get consistently amazing reviews on Google and TripAdvisor - and customers are always telling us how much they love the service our staff provide.
“But it still gives us a buzz when professionals from the industry recognise us. We feel like we’ve won already - especially as we’re in such fabulous company with some of the very best shops in Yorkshire on the shortlist.”
The York Gin shop has received hundreds of five-star reviews on Google and Facebook. A recent reviewer, Sarah Edwards, wrote on Google: “If I could give a ten-star rating I would! As a manager in retail, I fully respect and appreciate the time and effort that went into an amazing experience in store.”
This year’s Taste Award Champions will be announced at a glittering black-tie event at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday November 6.
