6 bed HMO in York could become home for 8 under new plans
A FAMILY home which won approval to become an HMO for six people just weeks ago could be extended to house eight residents.
Three months after owner Mr M Carter won permission from the city council to turn a family home at 153 Bad Bargain Lane into a six-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO), he is now applying to extend the property to include eight bedrooms.
The extent of the plans are revealed in the planning application (ref: 24/01652/FUL) lodged with the council.
Under the plans, the internal layout of the three-storey property would be reconfigured to create two more bedrooms.
Mr Carter's first application for the large family home to become a six-bed HMO was approved by planners on June 28 this year.
This was despite opposition from a neighbour, Dr Neil Taylor, whose statement to planners read: "The property is located in a quiet residential area primarily occupied by young families and elderly residents and the conversion to a property containing six different residents would damage the character and quality of the area."
