A violent thief and a man who exposed himself in a pub were among people sentenced recently at York Magistrates Court.

James King, 33, of Sunny Bar, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to theft of a bicycle and going equipped for theft in Davygate, York and two attempted thefts of a bike in Parliament Street.  He was jailed for six weeks and ordered to pay £60 compensation.

Peter Crosby, 31, of Y-Wern, Wrexham, denied causing actual bodily harm to a man in New Street, central York, but was convicted at trial.  He was given a 12-month community order with 150 hours’ unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £300 compensation and £325 prosecution costs.

Pavel Bartuzel, 50, of Westbourne Terrace, Selby, pleaded guilty to exposing himself in a Selby pub. He was given a 12-month community order with five days’ rehabilitative activities and 80 hours’ unpaid work, put on the sex offenders register for five years and was made subject to a five-year restraining order.  He was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.

Mark Chalkley, 45, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to using threatening or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Tesco’s Low Ousegate store, York, and, in Hull, using threatening or insulting words or behaviour, three offences being drunk and disorderly, one of criminal damage in a Humberside Police van, and two failures to attend Hull Magistrates Court. He was given a 12-month community order with six months’ alcohol treatment and 15 days’ rehabilitative activities. He was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.
