Two York motorists have been banned after they were sentenced by magistrates outside North Yorkshire. 

Claire Parkinson, 44, of Oakland Drive, Heworth, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance in Ripley, Derbyshire.  Derby magistrates gave her a 12-month community order with 50 hours’ unpaid work and banned from driving for 14 months. She must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.

Three York and Selby motorists failed to respond to summons and were dealt with in their absence.

John Rhys Sandey, 26, of Highfield Road, Bubwith, Selby, was convicted at Boston Magistrates Court of failure to tell police who was driving his car when it was allegedly speeding at 58 mph in a 30 mph zone in Lincoln. He was fined £660, ordered to pay a £264 statutory surcharge and £110 prosecution costs and given six penalty points.

Steven Alan Reynolds, 42, of Brailsford Crescent, Clifton, was convicted  at Hull Magistrates Court of failure to tell police who was driving his car when it was allegedly speeding at 70 mph on a 60mph stretch of the A1079 in East Yorkshire.  He was banned from driving for six months, fined £660 and ordered to pay a £264 statutory surcharge and £110 prosecution costs.

David Raymond Powell, 39, of Cygnet Street, central York, was convicted at Peterlee Magistrates Court of not telling police who was driving his car when it was allegedly speeding on the A1(M) in County Durham. He was fined £660, ordered to pay a £264 statutory surcharge and £90 prosecution costs and given six penalty points.
