A sex offender given a chance to keep his freedom is today in jail because he was abusive and aggressive to a probation officer.

Vhade Rouen, 20, was given a suspended prison sentence in May for causing a child to look at images of sexual activity, having indecent pictures of children and sexual communication with a child.

When probation officers tried to get him to face up to his actions he “cried and wailed” in what they suspected was a ruse to avoid rehabilitation work, Judge Simon Hickey told York Crown Court.

He was also so abusive and aggressive towards the officer in charge of his case, the probation service sent him back to court to be resentenced.

Rouen, of Whitby and no fixed address, who was given the eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years under the name Rowan Brewster, pleaded guilty to breaching the suspended sentence. He was ordered to serve seven months of the order having spent two and a half months on remand following the breach.

His barrister Sam Roxborough said Rouen believed he needed medication which he wasn’t getting to deal with internal problems caused by his drinking. When he asked the probation officer for an official letter to the doctor, she told him she couldn’t tell a doctor what to do.

He wanted to work with probation but believed they had made promises they had not kept.

Kelly Clarke, for the probation service said police had told it Rouen had been aggressive towards staff at Whitby Hospital and had damaged property there. The service had not been told of him being charged in connection with the incident.
