A MAJOR road through North Yorkshire has reopened closed after a major fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called in to deal with a large barn fire at Allerton Park near Harrogate late last night (October 23).
A service spokesman said at the time: “Our crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.
“The A168 is currently closed in both directions between Boroughbridge and the Allerton Park roundabout and is expected to be for some time.
"Crews have been working overnight to protect surrounding buildings and fight the fire. An Aerial Ladder Platform is been used as a water tower and farm machinery is being used to create a firebreak. Crews remain at the scene and are likely to remain there for some time."
Crews were called out at 22.48pm last night Allerton with eight appliances and two water bowsers involved.
North Yorkshire Police initially said the road was likely to be closed throughout the morning rush hour, but it has since reopened.
