The Coastliner bus service linking York to Scarborough and Leeds is increasing its frequency from two to three buses an hour.

Operator Transdev is making the change from this Sunday for the services from Monday to Saturday.

Furthermore, new journeys between Leeds and York only will finish at Clifford Street in York city centre instead of Stonebow, which will continue to be served by all other Coastliner buses.

Coastliner is also adding a later journey on Monday to Saturday nights from Leeds at 11.20pm to Tadcaster and York Rail Station, while its current 10.02pm departure from York Rail Station at 10.12pm will now run through to Leeds.

An extra later evening bus will also leave Scarborough Peasholm Park at 9.30pm and the Railway Station bus stop at 9.40pm, running through Malton and York as far as Garnet Lane in Tadcaster.

Coastliner General Manager Adam Emmott said: “We’re delighted to be able to introduce this significant boost to our routes across Yorkshire, with financial support from North Yorkshire Council through the Government-backed Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

“We’ve also listened carefully to our customers’ valued feedback and will be making additional improvements across our timetable to help with reliability.”
