York taxis should be painted yellow as in New York

CITY of York Council’s proposed changes to taxi licensing to insist all Hackney Carriages must be black is not going to enhance safety.

Far from it.

Black vehicles are not easy to see - especially on a dark rainy winter night.

Across the pond in New York taxis are either bright yellow or apple green for the simple reason those colours are far more noticeable.

Easy to see. Easy to identify. Easy to flag down.

Other pre-booked private hire vehicles can be any colour.

That seems to be a far more sensible regulation than the proposals for Old York.

Autumn colours are a break from the dreary

AUTUMN’S kaleidoscope of colour is a wonderful reminder of nature’s beauty, in total contrast to the drab colourless life we can expect for the foreseeable future while Starmer and Co pursue their woke ideologically inept agenda, happy days ahead!!
