A thriving York leisure and hospitality business has celebrated a successful year of growth and investment with a reception for 80 at its Bosun’s restaurant.

Owners Phil and Kerrie Cook took over the Bishopthorpe site, now known as The Riverfront York, last December and have significantly invested since to create a place where local residents, guests and tourists can ‘stay, play and dine’.

Phil told guests about renovations, a significant upgrade of the caravan park with a new layout, roads and extensive groundworks to improve its amenities, which has resulted in the park being fully booked for most of the summer season, as well as refurbishing its six unique stay cabins and houseboat.

He promised future investment in the caravan and motorhome park, with upgrades to the shower and toilet block and the installation of new electric meters for the pitches all planned for the off-season to ensure facilities are even better for guests in 2025.

"The support we have received since we have rebranded and completed renovations been invaluable and we are grateful to have seen more visitors come through our gates and enjoy all of the site throughout the Summer months.

"We hope to continue welcoming guests to Bosun’s and to our café bar by the river throughout the Winter and we are looking forward to continuing to build connections with local businesses, suppliers and residents to help strengthen the local economy."
