Two employees at a GP surgery in North Yorkshire have brought home awards celebrating their contribution to best practice in end of life care.
Julie Hall and Dr Siri Upputuri, of Lambert Medical Centre in Thirsk, were honoured with the awards at the Daffodil Standards Awards ceremony on October 4.
The awards are a collaboration between Marie Curie and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
Ms Hall, care coordinator at the Thirsk centre, was named Management and Receptionist General Practice Team Member of the Year, while registrar Dr Upputuri was commended as Trainee of the Year.
Nominees and winners were selected based on their implementation of the Daffodil Standards, a set of voluntary standards developed by Marie Curie and RCGP.
Ms Hall and Dr Upputuri were both celebrated for their work producing leaflets for patients.
The awards were presented by RCGP chair, Professor Kamila Hawthorne, and Marie Curie’s chief medical officer, and medical director of the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford, Dr Sarah Holmes.
Marie Curie, the end of life charity, can provide support for those living with or affected by terminal illness, dying, death, and bereavement.
