A Christmas fair “with a dark twist” is returning to York.
The ‘Black Christmas Market’ is free to enter and will be held at the York Medical Society, off Stonegate, from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, December 8.
Independent traders will sell goods on at the market, which organisers say is a multi-sensory experience.
“Each room is thoughtfully designed, to create a visual experience, which captures the spirit of Christmas, but with a dark twist,” a spokesperson said.
“Haunting carols” and “twisted versions of festive classics” will be heard over the “hubbub of the market environment”, they added.

There’ll be smells too: “Intoxicating festive aromas will waft through the market, with each room having it's own dedicated scent profile”.
Taste-wise, home baked vegan and gluten free festive treats are for sale.
And attendees can “engage with the items for sale on the stalls and shake hands with stallholders”.
“The market features a diverse selection of vendors and artisans, each offering unique, handcrafted goods.
“From sustainable and eco-friendly products to exquisite handmade jewellery and home décor, there's something for everyone. Discover one-of-a-kind gifts that cannot be found anywhere else. Purchase presents for loved ones that nobody else will have.”
