‘Paradise’ is finally coming to York city centre.
Planners have approved an application for a café in Low Ousegate, with five holiday flats above.
The four-storey grade II-listed building has recently been a nail bar but currently it stands empty.
Earlier plans for the scheme were refused in May but amended plans for interior and external changes to allow the change of use of the building were submitted soon after with more details.

The applicant, Tana Thewlis of WAGM Holding Ltd of York, said the scheme would deliver the equivalent of ten full-time jobs, with the business open daily from 8am to 11pm daily.
She sought a ‘sympathetic’ remodelling of the property that would ‘respect’ the character and vernacular of the area, her application said.
‘Paradise’ was the name given to the café in planning documents.
A report by council planning staff said the self-contained holiday flats “will aid in improving the choice and quality of visitor accommodation in York City Centre” and this was consistent with the economic objectives of local and national planning policy.
“The proposed alterations will respect the special historic and architectural interest of the building,” it added, meeting both local and national planning policies.
