A NORTH Yorkshire primary school has transformed its Ofsted rating from 'inadequate' to 'good'.

During a recent inspection Ofsted rated Rillington Primary School as ‘good’ in all areas which include the Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management and Early Years Provision.

Inspectors said: "Rillington has designed and implemented an ambitious, broad and rich curriculum for all pupils, the benefits of which are evident through pupil’s achievements.

"Pupils leave the school with a love of reading with initiatives implemented having a positive impact on the range and depth of children’s reading."

The inspectors added: "The skill and expertise of adults across the school is effectively used to support all pupils and the school is a calm and orderly place where pupils are polite and friendly.

"The school’s inclusive ethos is evident. Nurture provision is strong and the provision for SEND is a real strength of the school.

"Pupils demonstrate tolerance and respect and are developing an increased understanding of using and applying aspects of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in their own lives which is having a positive impact on developing character."

The inspectors said children in Early Years get off to a great start with skilled adults helping the development of children’s language, vocabulary and use in the context of their learning.

"Leaders, including those with responsibility for governance, have an accurate understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for development. They are realistic about the actions set and take into account staff workload and wellbeing whilst maintaining a clear and sharp focus on providing a high-quality education for all pupils.

"Engagement and partnership with parents is strong and the school has a rigorous and consistent approach to safeguarding, with exemplary practice in record keeping through quality of paperwork.

Headteacher, Carrie Stabler said she was delighted with the inspection result.

"This rating is truly transformational for our school and is happy that the school’s journey of improvement, investment and growth has finally been recognised.
