How we built an outdoor library for locals
A NEIGHBOUR, Peter Thompson, built a free library for us just prior to Covid and it was much-used during lockdown, so much so we had a second one for children made.
When the lockdown ended we thought the traffic would die down but it actually increased and has visitors daily.
We also bought some Bootham Crescent stand seats from York City Football Club and some people sit and read at the box.
Interestingly, books come back from the adults but children understandably get fond of books and we often have to top it up - with adult books I often take a surplus to Morrisons.
My purchases at Waterstones are way down as we too enjoy the variety of books that appear.
It has been a real joy to our neighbours - and us as well !
