UPDATE: Police say the road reopened at 8.50pm tonight.
Emergency services are dealing with a serious crash on a main road in York.
Several police vehicles were at the scene of the incident at the junction of Rawcliffe Lane and Shipton Road, near Clifton Green, from around 6pm tonight (Friday, November 15).
An ambulance was also spotted leaving the the area with blue lights flashing.
At 7.46pm North Yorkshire Police said: "A road closure has been placed on Rawcliffe Lane, Clifton, York - at the junction with Shipton and Clifton lights - while emergency services deal with a collision.
"Motorists are urged to avoid the area and follow diversions until further notice."
A helicopter was also heard overhead at the scene.
