A care home has launched an appeal to ensure a resident receives 100 birthday cards.
Highfield Care Home in Scarthingwell, near Tadcaster, wants to help Gerry celebrate his 100th birthday in style on December 15.
The care home is asking people "near and far" to make Gerry's milestone birthday a memorable one by sending him the cards.
Gerry will enjoy a private lunch with staff, friends, and other residents to mark the occasion, as well as enjoying a special birthday cake made by the home’s head chef, Judith Huby.
Gerry attended Rotherham Grammar School and began his career in the power industry as an apprentice.
He rose through the ranks and was appointed superintendent of Drax Power Station in 1965.
The soon-to-be centenarian's hobbies include DIY, gardening, and playing hockey.
Luke Owens, general manager of Highfield Care Home, said: "We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable gentleman as he reaches this amazing milestone.
"Gerry is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more."
Cards can be sent to: Gerry’s 100th birthday, Highfield Care Home, Lakeside Approach, Barkston Ash, Tadcaster, LS24 9PG.
Cards store-bought and homemade are both welcome.
