York has placed first in a ranking of UK cities conducted by Premier Inn with the aid of 'eye-tracking software.'
The hotel chain compiled a list of 72 cities from around the world which experience winter from December 21 to March 22.
One hundred participants were then shown a series of images of these cities during wintertime, and, using the 'eye-tracking software,' the average length of time spent looking at the image of each destination was recorded in seconds.
Winter photos of York were apparently the most fixated-on of any UK city, followed by Liverpool and then London.
As for rankings worldwide, York came in second and was just beaten to the top spot by Boston, USA.
Rounding out the top five in the worldwide rankings were Dublin, Cologne, and Stockholm.
