MEET the new boss of a major organisation in York.

Stefan Micevski, the general manager of The Elmbank Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has been appointed chairman of the Hospitality Association York (HAY). 

It follows the successful tenure of outgoing chairman Adam Wardale, who has taken on a new role as director of hospitality at Middleton Hall Retirement Village in County Durham.

Stefan brings over 13 years of experience in hospitality to his new role, including seven years in London, before moving to York, where he has risen up the career ladder to become general manager at The Elmbank Hotel.

A proud member of the Institute of Hospitality with a master’s in business administration, Stefan has demonstrated exceptional leadership during his time at Elmbank Hotel, helping to position it as a standout property within York’s hospitality landscape.

More recently, Stefan has played a pivotal role in transforming Elmbank Hotel, overseeing its multi-million-pound refurbishment and rebranding journey to become part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the arrival of the international Hilton chain in the city.

Speaking about his new position as Chairman, Stefan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role as Chairman of HAY.

"The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years as a direct result of Adam’s drive and determination, he’s created a strong and effective community of York GM’s who’ve had a profound positive impact, I’m excited and committed to building on his legacy. Hospitality is vital to the York economy and HAY is determined to continue supporting the city’s growth in tourism, retail and business sectors”

Along with the support of the HAY executive committee: vice chair, Stewart Lorimer, secretary, Rebecca Layton and treasurer, Lionel Chatard, Stefan will continue to ensure future delivery of the goals and ambitions of HAY.
