Four York motorists face big court bills after they were convicted of offences including breaking a driving ban and failure to tell police who was driving their cars.
Graham Martin Liddell, 59, of Teal Drive, Foxwood, was banned from driving for six months at Harrogate Magistrates' Court after he admitted speeding in a 60mph zone on the A64 near Castle Howard. He was fined £128 and ordered to pay a £51 statutory surcharge and £90 prosecution costs.
Perry Witty, 33, of Northfields, Strensall, pleaded guilty to cocaine driving, driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance and was banned from driving for three years. He was given a 12-month community order with six months’ drug rehabilitative treatment, 15 days’ rehabilitative activities and 100 hours’ unpaid work and was ordered at Scarborough Magistrates' Court to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Two car owners failed to respond to court summons and were convicted in their absence.
Wayne Lomax, 38, of Ousebank Drive, Skelton north of York, was convicted at Harrogate Magistrates' Court of failure to tell police who was driving his car when it was allegedly speeding on the A19 at Skelton. He was fined £750 and ordered to pay a £300 statutory surcharge and £90 prosecution costs and given six penalty points.
Chelsea McGuigan, 32, of The Village, Haxby, was convicted at Sheffield Magistrates Court of failing to tell police who was driving her car when it was allegedly breaking the law in Rotherham. She was fined £660, ordered to pay a £264 statutory surcharge and £90 prosecution costs and given six penalty points.
