Malton's St Clement's Festival is underway today (Saturday) with plenty of activities taking place indoors.

The event runs from 10am-6pm in the town's Market Place and it's free to come to.

Highlights of the days activities:

🎼Programme of music from local choirs & brass bands in St Michael's Church 10.30am-5pm

🎨Artist demos & workshops in The Milton Rooms 10am-4pm

👣 Malton Museum guided bite-sized walking history tours at 11am and 2pm. Meet outside The Milton Rooms.

🎭 The Be Amazing Arts will be open 10-4.30pm for story telling, crafts, willow lantern making for the light procession

🍏Kids St Clement’s crumble making workshops with Thecooksplacemalton in the Market Place, opposite Paley’s Green Grocers. This will move into the cookery school if necessary.

📖 Kemps General Store & Bookshop Author event (free admission) – Sally Coulthard “The Apple: A Delicious History” (book signing and talk) ✨Don't forget- the brand new immersive story-telling event “Looking for Loki” and lantern parade that takes place at 5pm followed by the spectacular grand finale of the Son et Lumiere. Meet opposite Kemps for the story-telling and parade.

🔥Blacksmith demos, axe handle crafting workshops and outdoor cooking at The Forge Area ( Environmental Art M U S T Forge SylvanKin ) - unfortunately the forging has now been cancelled due to the weather.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Many of the activities are taking place indoors so there’ll be lots of opportunities to enjoy the festivities with a warming refreshment. There are also contingency plans in place to relocate activities if needed.

"Wrap up warm and join in with what's set to be another fantastic day!"
