A BRIDGE in York was closed this afternoon after a person was rescued from the river.
Skeldergate Bridge, in the centre of York, was closed for around 30 minutes this afternoon from 4.15pm until 4.45pm after a person fell into the water.
According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, crews from York, Acomb, Selby, and Malton attended a call at 4.16pm after receiving reports that a person had entered the water of the river Ouse.
“It is believed the person fell in and then clung to a platform,” said a spokesperson.
The person was then rescued by York Rescue Boat and left in the care of ambulance crews.
Skeldergate Bridge has since reopened.
