FOUR people were arrested after a police chase in the early hours of this morning.

North Yorkshire Police have shared details of a chase which took place around 5am this morning (November 24) along the A64 and A162.

After receiving reports of an off-road vehicle travelling with a car, roads policing officers and police helicopter were sent to the area of the A64 close to Bilborough Top services.

Ten minutes later, a pursuit began on the A162 after an officer attempted to stop a John Deere Gator, which proceeded to speed away before being abandoned in Sherburn in Elmet.

The car which is believed to have been travelling with the Gator was located and boxed in by roads policing officers near Micklefield.

The four occupants inside, three men and one woman from West Yorkshire, were then arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

“We believe that the Gator is stolen from the Humberside area and enquiries are underway to ascertain further information,” said a spokesperson from the force.

Police are also looking to locate a member of the public who passed information onto officers in Sherburn in Elmet and requests they make contact with the force by calling 101 and quote reference number 12240214727.
