THREE flood warnings and three flood alerts remain in place this morning across York and North Yorkshire in the wake of Storm Bert.
The Environment Agency has flood warnings in place for riverside properties in York, Naburn Lock and St George’s Field car park.
The Viking recorder in the city centre peaked at 3.69m above normal at 12.30am yesterday (November 25) and compared with 4.39m on January 3 this year.
The highest recorded level at this point on the Ouse was 5.40 metres in November 2000.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “River levels have peaked and have begun to fall slowly.
“We will continue to monitor levels closely.
“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk, drive or cycle through flood water. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.”
