The Poppleton Centre Out o’ Space project has received a major boost making it possible to start work on the first phase of the project.
Poppleton Community Trust, the charity that manages the Poppleton community centre has been working on the project for two years.
In July 2023, the trust received planning permission in July 2023 to add two new studio rooms and to enlarge the popular Poppleton Social café/bar.
The trust says adding the two new rooms is Phase One and will be a huge benefit to existing users of the Centre and to the long list of local organisations and individuals who are anxious to start offering new activities to an already impressive list.

A grant of over £86,000 from FCC Communities Foundation has brought the fund to in excess of £300,000, enabling the first phase of the project to get the go ahead in the New Year.
Trust Chairman, Robin Tomlinson said: “The development project team have been working hard for over two years on this project and when we kicked off the fundraising back in July 2023 it was a daunting task.
“We are hugely grateful to the FCC for agreeing to give us this award”.
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
FCC Communities Foundation spokesperson, Richard Smith said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the creation of the much needed new rooms at the Poppleton Centre and pleased our funding will make such a difference to the many user groups at the centre. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and we’re looking forward to this one having a positive impact very soon.”
