Not one but two bars are set to open in Harrogate next Friday.

After former York-resident Kevin Spencer said he would open The Wicked Wolf on Friday December the 6, an Irish pub will open in the town on the very same day.

Katie O’Brien’s is a chain of Irish pubs owned by Newcastle-based firm Innvest Group.

It already operates Katie O’Briens in Newcastle, Sheffield, Nottingham, Durham, Leicester and recently opened one in Leeds.

Katie O’Brien’s posted on social media: “We are delighted to announce we are opening our doors on FRIDAY 6TH DECEMBER!🙌

“We’re going to be bringing you live music, live sport AND plenty of Guinness!🍻

“WE’RE SO EXCITED for you to join us for a pint of the black stuff!”

The pub chain promises a taste of Ireland, sayings its venues are modelled on Temple Bar, Dublin.

The pub chain added: “We're going to be bringing you live music EVERY SINGLE WEEK!🙌 From solo's, to duos, to bands - Katie's has it all!”

Next Friday, The Wicked Wolf will open in Unit 3 of the Royal Baths in Montpellier Gardens, which was once home to the Potting Shed, Rift & Co and Revolution.

As previously reported, after a £150,000 upgrade, the Wicked Wolf promises lots of new features, including a karaoke room, and will be open until 3am at weekends.

There will be a DJ every Friday and Saturday, with live music performances during the week.

The Wicked Wolf, which is also seeking a suitable site in York, will host an opening party at 7pm featuring Ellie Sax.

In addition, a sportsbar called the Mayfair Pub Kitchen is also due to open in Parliament Street by the Year end.
