For the first time in its 60-year history, York Hospital Radio can now be heard on DAB radios across the York area.

York Hospital Radio, which is a registered charity, broadcasts 24 hours per day, seven days per week, with content aimed primarily at patients in York Hospital, those in other care facilities, and those receiving care at home.

Music, guest features, outside broadcasts, and football commentaries all feature in the station's output.

Chair of York Hospital Radio, Ian Clennan, said: "This of course means that more people than ever can now hear our shows, and we can offer much better coverage for our listeners.

"We are now available on most car radios, for example, and of course on DAB at home, or in care facilities across York."

On DAB, the station can now be heard, according to a spokesperson, "in an area extending to Riccall, Green Hammerton, Barmby Moor, Huby, Sheriff Hutton, and Tollerton."
