Vale of York Academy has unveiled a new war memorial, featuring metal silhouettes of a Tommy soldier and a woman at war.
The memorial, located in the school courtyard, is intended to serve as a lasting symbol of remembrance.
School principal Gill Mills said: "We believe that it will serve as a constant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought for our country."
The school’s Senior Prefect team laid a wreath at the memorial on Remembrance Day following the two minutes’ silence.
Rob Orr, director of community, invited the wider community to share photos and information about their friends and family who served in the armed forces.
The collected stories were compiled into a presentation shared with students.
Tutor groups were presented with a knitted poppy that had been made for the school by a member of the community.
Students in Key Stages 3 and 4 also watched the Royal British Legion live event.
