A STOLEN Land Rover Defender was caught up in a police chase yesterday lunchtime close to Selby.
North Yorkshire Police said that they received a call at 12.30pm yesterday (December 3) that a Land Rover Defender had been stolen from an address in Cliffe, close to Selby.
After deploying road officers, the car was spotted on the A19 southbound travelling towards the M62, and police gave pursuit.
Once the blue lights were activated, the Defender made off at speed, overtaking other vehicles and travelling onto the opposite side of the road.
It continued towards Whitley before it was abandoned, and the suspect ran into fields.
After police began searching the area, they found a person who matched the description on a train station platform.
The man in his 20s who is from the Doncaster area was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for the police, dangerous driving, and theft of a motor vehicle.
He was later interviewed and released under investigation.
