We are being asked to put forward our views about York's future.
What's the point? One political party or another, with a tiny minority membership representing the huge majority, will have their way with us yet again. What are their qualifications for the job? Two of them are left over dinosaurs from the battles of the classes, settled by the joint consent of their ancestors, and the third a pleasant enough lot but short of real life experience and leadership, except among their own kind. Labour has forsaken their historic constituency and the Conservatives have mislaid theirs. Sharing power may help them find relevant, meaningful purpose in todays world. It's needed for all our sakes.
