We are careering out of control, for third world status at the mercy of crime and religious fanaticism from abroad, and our political system is hastening its arrival.

Our politicians who presided over these developments are busy feathering their nests from the public purse as if it was theirs by right.

There is no need to go into the problems which are mounting against us daily. They are far too serious, numerous and obvious. Our outdated and diminishing political parties have shown that they are part of the reason for us being in this backwater, not the means of getting us out of it. It has too many rich pickings available for them.

There is no way of replacing the system in whole. The only feasible first step forward is to curtail the power of government by strengthening opposition. A well thought out system of PR.

We need to see the whole issue thrown entirely open to national
discussion, followed by a referendum, after everybody has had ample time to make up their minds.
