A CELEBRATION of the French automobile is being held at a North Yorkshire stately home – 60 years after the iconic vehicle was first launched.
The 2CV Great Britain Club event, which is taking place at Duncombe Park, near Helmsley, until Monday, is an annual platform for customised classic and vintage French cars from all over the country.
This year’s event is a particularly special occasion for fans of the classic vehicle as it has been six decades since the now-famous shape of the deux chevaux was introduced to the world in 1948.
Peter Sweeney, a regular visitor to the event, came in his customised 1987 Citroen 2CV.
He said: “It is a great event, and I try to come every year.
“This time is obviously very special as it has been 60 years since the first 2CV car was launched.
“Consequently, there has been a particularly large turnout at the event this year – I have seen about 400 cars so far.”
