YORK RUFC will look to double their Yorkshire One points tally at Sheffield tomorrow.

Buoyed after a crushing win over Malton and Norton gave them their first success of the season, the Clifton Parkers go hunting another win in South Yorkshire.

After starting the season in poor fashion with two losses, York belatedly sprang into life against their derby rivals last time out – handing Malton a 52-7 hiding.

And, given they are a club which targeted promotion in pre-season, they will need to continue that form against Sheffield if they are to truly get back on track.

Skipper Jon Sharpe is missing, along with winger Rob Kama, but hat-trick hero Sam Arkle will continue his partnership with Rob Taylor in the centre.

Ben Hobson returns on the wing, in place of Mike Bunting, while Stu Davies – on the bench last week – resumes his position in the back-row.

York will be hoping Ed Beechey and 19-year-old Chris Fox, both outstanding in the Malton win, can again produce similar performances at lock forward.

Malton and Norton sit bottom of the Yorkshire One pile as they entertain Heath at The Gannock. Their opponents have lost two of their opening three games and Malton must get going soon if they are avoid another season descending into a battle against relegation.

A tough task awaits Selby at Sandhill Lane. The Swans are up against a Skipton side who have won all three of their matches this season – including a 24-17 win over Malton.

Sheffield were seen off 33-20 last time out and Selby, who narrowly fell 20-18 against Keighley, could do with picking up two points if they are to have any realistic chance of emulating last season’s third-place finish.

Pocklington travel to old rivals Ripon in Yorkshire Two.

They will be in positive mood after two comfortable league wins, whereas Ripon have lost both their opening games.

But Pocklington know that the form-book counts for little as Ripon have frequently kick-started their season in this fixture in recent years.

For Pocklington, fly-half and vice-captain Henry Mitchell is unavailable.

However, his absence is compensated by the return of 17-year old flier Alex Lucas and the inclusion of Charlie Allen for the first time since 2006.

The former England Under-16 full-back is back home after completing his studies at Bath University, but had been struggling with a long-standing ankle injury sustained while playing in the south west.

Also in contention is back row Dan Wilson. He has missed the last two games with a back problem.

York RI, fresh from a 32-10 victory over Mosborough in the EDF Junior Vase last time out, will steel themselves for a tough-looking trip to unbeaten Old Rishworthian in Yorkshire Four.
