York’s North Eastern League push suffered a blow as they lost 80-74 to Hornsea, though they picked up four valuable points thanks to the two home winning rinks.
Joyce Gee’s team had been pegged back after leading 17-8 with six ends to play, but recovered to win 21-14, while Barbara Dawson’s team led from start to finish to win 19-12.
Pat Bracken’s away team lost four successive ends between the ninth and 12th to ensure a 28-18 defeat.
And though Irene Paylor’s team reduced the defict from 19-8 to 23-16 with one end to play, they perished 26-16.
York hope to get back to winning ways on Saturday at noon when they play North Cave. At the same time. league leaders New Earswick face second-placed Selby.
