POLICE have appealed for help to trace a man who has been reported missing from home in York.

The family of Christopher Wheatley, of Earlsborough Terrace, raised the alarm after he failed to return home after last being seen by his wife near Haxby Primary School at 10am on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old has been reported as suffering from depression and has a medical history which requires him to take regular medication.

Mr Wheatley cannot drive since a serious motorcycle accident about a year ago, which left him with a severe injury to his right leg that is still protected by a red-coloured pot.

He has a crutch to help him walk about and he also uses a wheelchair.

As well as his medication, it is not believed Mr Wheatley has access to money and he does not have a mobile phone.

He is described as white, blue eyes, cropped dark-brown hair with long side burns and a tanned complexion.

He was last seen he was wearing a t-shirt, blue denim jeans and a black cotton jacket with the word "V Max" written on in silver.

A force spokesperson said the police and the family of Mr Wheatley are “very concerned” for his wellbeing and urged anyone with any information to contact police.
