A SCHOOL has passed a surprise Ofsted inspection with flying colours.

Malton Primary School was selected at random for the inspection last month.

Inspectors spoke to pupils, observed lessons, interviewed the head teacher and scrutinised the school’s self evaluation documents.

The final report praised the confidence of the children and the school’s “can do” culture.

The inspector wrote: “The excellent leadership of the head teacher demonstrates a very clear vision of where the school needs to be and how to get there. Pupils could articulate the same vision for the school and this is excellent.”

Mark Poole, head teacher, said: “I was over the moon when I heard how well we had done.

“The day was very intensive, but it was all worth it to gain such high recognition for the work of our staff, governors, parents and pupils.”
