About York Golf Range
Set in beautiful countryside on the outskirts of York, York Golf Range and Course provides outstanding facilities and exceptional value for money. Opened in 2003 as a state of the art driving range, an artificial all weather putting course soon followed. With the addition of the light and airy conservatory in 2005 this provided the space for us to extend the Pro Shop and Cafe. The addition of a 9 Hole Academy Course in 2007 ensured our position as the premier golf practice and learning facility in the York area.
We have recently converted the 9 hole putting course into a family friendly fun crazy golf course.
Quality has always been the byword ever since Graham Chapman opted to diversify into the leisure industry and golf.
Integral to his plans for a caravan park on his Towthorpe-based land was the establishment of a driving range, and the York Golf Range has been a revelation.
The excellence of the range was continued with its three outside bays, bunker and grassed tee area, plus the nine-hole all-weather putting course.
Under the canny leadership of head pro Andrew Smith, a former European Tour player, York Golf Range has continued its quality beat apace.
It opened a nine-hole academy course comprising four par-four holes and the rest at par-three in 2005 and augmented that high-tech set-up by placing junior tee-boxes closer to greens, which has since proved a big asset for the club’s growing number of younger players.
One of the pioneers of the Young Master Golf programme, Smith has a large group of strong, young golfers under his wing.
