FORMER Minstermen trio Leigh Wood, Christian Fox and Russell Howarth have once again been signed up to coach the city’s next generation of footballers.
The one-time York City players will be passing on their football knowledge to youngsters under the City Football Development banner this season.
City Football Development will kick off the new season at PlayFootball, at Clifton Moor, on Friday, September 4, from 6pm.
The head coach is former York City reserve Neil Sanderson, and he will be assisted by Howarth, the former City, Tranmere and Bradford ’keeper, Pickering Town midfielder Fox and Selby Town star Wood.
This season the sessions will run for three hours to accommodate the growing numbers of youngsters involved.
Hull City, who have taken on several former CFD players in recent seasons, will bring their coaching staff to York on Friday, September 18 to cast their eyes over this year’s crop.
Meanwhile, tables are currently being sold for the CFD sporting dinner at York Racecourse on Thursday, October 1.
Former Arsenal and England star Paul Merson will be the guest speaker at the event, while comedy will be provided by Jerry Earl.
