A GROUP of volunteer fundraisers have raised £5,800 this year for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
The Gillygate Friends Of Martin House have been holding coffee mornings and afternoon teas, street and supermarket collections for the charity since 2002 and have raised £33,000 during that time.
Many of the group used to work in the Boston Spa-based charity’s shop in Gillygate. When the shop closed they formed a fundraising group.
Eunice Cooper, volunteer and former shop worker, said the group had found it hard to raise money this year due to the credit crunch and had to put on a few more events than usual.
