THE North Yorkshire sailor who was detained in Iran with his crewmates when their yacht drifted in to the country's waters has arrived back in the UK today.
Sam Usher, 26, and the crew of the yacht - The Kingdom of Bahrain - had been sailing from Bahrain to Dubai in an off-shore race on November 25 when they were stopped by members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
Scarborough businessman and owner of the boat, Andrew Pindar, said the crew were embarrassed by the whole incident and more concerned for their loved ones than themselves.
The sailors arrived back at Heathrow this morning.
