JOINING the donor register could get even easier for people in York, under new plans being discussed by city leaders.
Jonathan Morley, City of York Council’s executive member for housing and adult social services, says he will work with her Labour counterpart Tracey Simpson-Laing to make information available in council buildings and publications.
Coun Simpson-Laing, who has campaigned previously on the issue, said: “I am asking all adult residents of York, who believe that they are medically eligible to, to consider signing up to the list. People are donating organs both when they are alive as well as when they die, but even agreeing to donate after someone dies makes a huge difference.”
At last week’s council meeting, she asked Coun Morley to agree to make information more widely available and he said he would work with her.
