YORK City juniors signed off for Christmas with a 3-1 victory over Lincoln.
Jamie Hopcutt’s brace and a Dom Brown goal saw the Minstermites overturn a 1-0 deficit at the break following a host of spurned chances.
The home side’s best chance of the opening 45 minutes saw Kingsley Wetherald denied from the penalty spot after the Imps goalkeeper guessed the right way.
Lincoln, though, forged ahead on the stroke of half-time from their first corner.
Following strong words from coach Steve Torpey, the hosts levelled with their first attack of the second half thanks to a calm Brown finish after Nick Thompson’s through ball.
Hopcutt then displayed the kind of magic his team-mates have come to expect, picking the ball up on the right before showing his marker one way, and then the other, before smashing the ball into the roof of the net.
Ten minutes from time, Hopcutt put the game beyond doubt when he confidently converted from the penalty spot after his pace proved too much for the visitors’ defence.
