PLANS for 325 houses and a health centre on farmland at Wold View in Market Weighton have been given the go-ahead by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
But town councillor Peter Hemmerman has claimed that the development “is not in the best interests of the town”.
He says that although one fifth of the town is going to be rebuilt, “only 22 of the 325 homes are likely to be affordable,” despite council recommendations.
East Riding council had ruled that the development must include affordable housing and include a roundabout at the Holme Road junction of the A1079 bypass, and provide affordable housing.
