POLICE closed one of York’s busiest roads as they continued the investigation into the death of schoolboy Sean Hamilton.
Almost six months after the ten-year-old was killed in a hit-and-run incident as he crossed Holgate Road, police sealed off the road for two hours.
The force yesterday remained tight-lipped about the nature of the inquiry, simply stating Holgate Road had been closed between Dalton Terrace and Hamilton Drive East on Sunday at 8pm “to allow officers to further investigate” the fatal crash on Saturday, October 3.
A force spokesman said all local residents had been notified by letter warning of the road closure.
The Our Lady’s Roman Catholic Primary School pupil died when he was hit by a van as he walked towards his Spindle Close home after a trip to the cinema.
A police search involving dozens of officers, dogs and a helicopter eventually led to the arrest of five men the following day. The men, aged 16 to 22, have since been released on bail.
Anyone with any information about the incident should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060 247.
