FIREFIGHTERS rescued an elderly man from a blaze in the living room of his home in Bishopthorpe near York.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said they were called to Maple Avenue in the village shortly after 8pm on Friday night, following reports of a smoke alarm sounding with no response from the occupant.
A spokesman said: “One elderly male was rescued from the property suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to his forearm.”
